As passionate beer lovers who have enjoyed our fair share of pints across the Last Frontier, we can attest to the 49th state’s impressive selection of craft breweries and local brews!
Alaska is home to a thriving craft beer scene, with smaller breweries popping up throughout small towns and established ones continuously experimenting with unique and bold flavors. Personally, I love anything made with spruce tips while Sean is more of a simpleton when it comes to his preferred flavor profiles.
Regardless of what kind of beer you enjoy, practically every place we’ve provided in this list has a classic blonde, an extra hoppy IPA, a fruity sour, and a rich amber to choose from. Many breweries across the state also have seasonal samplings which are frequently available to bring home in 4-packs!

Easily one of our favorite breweries in Alaska, HooDoo Brewing Company specializes in crafting quality, European-inspired beers that cater to a wide palette. Known for their meticulous brewing process and attention to detail, HooDoo has become a staple in the Fairbanks community.
We love their cozy taproom which offers a sweet view of the brewing equipment and you can always smell the comforting aroma of malt and hops in the air (it pretty much smells like a bakery!)
But, the real fun happens around their outdoor, modern firepits, where locals and visitors gather to enjoy a cold one under the Alaskan midnight sun in summer. We visited for the first time in the dead of winter and only lasted about a half hour before we went running to our car!
2. Black Spruce Brewing Company
Nestled in the heart of Fairbanks, Black Spruce Brewing Company stands as a beacon for innovation in the Alaskan craft beer community. With their commitment to utilizing Alaskan ingredients, they’ve become increasingly popular since their opening in 2018.
Their taproom is adorned with local art and they often have live music! The Short Days brew is a personal favorite, coming from someone with an enthusiastic palate for light beers!

Better known to us as the last stop on our road trip through Alaska’s interior before getting engaged, the famed Denali Brewing Company is a cornerstone of local culture and one of Alaska’s premier breweries!
Visitors are treated to not only an array of delicious, award-winning beers but also a diverse food menu that includes wood-fired pizzas and hearty pub fare. And, with their location in the quaint town of Talkeetna, you can’t beat the views of Denali. It may not be beer, but I love their ciders and Sean is a big fan of their summer seasonal, the Denali Lager!
We also love checking out their merch every time we’re in since they have awesome trucker hats that sell out nearly the day they come in and we have several t-shirts from them, as well!

With three indoor stories for enjoying their craft beers, their taproom is easily one of the most spacious on this list (perfect if you’re visiting with a large group!) We’re big fans of their King Street Pilsner and Blonde ales, but they usually have 7 or so beers on tap for you to try in addition to seasonal selections.
For those seeking a laid-back vibe, King Street is a must-visit. Plus, they have an amazing pizza kitchen!
7. Midnight Sun Brewing Company

A must-stop every time we’re in town, the 49th State Brewing Company is a destination in its own right, offering not just delicious beers but also stunning views of Turnagain Arm. In all honesty, you should be prepared to wait anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours to get a table here in the summer months!
This brewery stands out not only for its wide variety of beers, including hop-forward IPAs and rich, creamy stouts, but also for its commitment to sustainability and local sourcing.

Known for their creative use of local ingredients and consistently amazing food trucks parked near their outdoor firepits fitted with rustic, log benches, this brewery makes for the perfect après hike or ski destination.
If you like hazy and tropical flavors, be sure to try their No Woman No Cryo if it’s on tap… it’s my favorite! Though Sean also enjoys Down the Chute which is a light and refreshing Kölsch.

Undoubtedly one of the best breweries in Alaska, Seward Brewing Company offers a welcoming atmosphere and a diverse selection of handcrafted beers from their “Just Beer” (i.e. made for the guy who walks into breweries and orders a Bud Light) to their 9% Aloha Anarchy Bleeding Heart which is actually brewed with pink pineapples from Costa Rica!

The long, cold winters and the camaraderie found within the walls of a cozy brewery make these spots highly appreciated by both locals and the growing number of tourists seeking the full Alaskan experience.
In our opinion, there was no better way to end a cold, -30°F day in Alaska than at a local brewhouse surrounded by kind locals and delicious food and drink! And in the summer months, there was no better addition to a day full of fishing on the Kenai River than having a brew while listening to the tour operators tell stories about the tourists they had onboard that day.
